HERRERA vs GONZALEZ - SOMEBODY’S "0" HAS GOT TO GO!
ORANGE, CA, July 23 – It’s already promising to be a hot summer in Southern California, and Thompson Boxing Promotions is about to make it even hotter by bringing top prospects Alberto Herrera and Efrain Esquivias to the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California on Saturday, July 31st for "LOCKED ’N LOADED II".
In the main event, Herrera squares off against fellow unbeaten Sammy Gonzalez in a six round matchup. The co-feature, also scheduled for six rounds, will see Carso’s Efrain Esquivias take on Jonathan Alcantara in super bantamweight action.
Tickets for "LOCKED ’N LOADED II", priced at $75, $35, and $25, are available now and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900.
It will be a clash of unbeatens in a junior middleweight bout between Riverside’s Alberto Herrera (7-0, 5 KOs) and Chino’s Sammy Gonzalez (7-0, 3 KOs), who is returning to the ring for the first time since 2008. Herrera will be competing for the second time this year, and he hopes to build on his January victory over Hilario Lopez by handing Gonzalez his first pro defeat.
Also in action this month, unbeaten super bantamweight Efrain Esquivias (8-0, 5 KOs) returns to the ring against Novato’s Jonathan Alcantara (4-2-1). Esquivias, a recent signee of Thompson Boxing Promotions, is a former National Golden Gloves champion and one of the sport’s top up-and-comers.
In a heavyweight bout scheduled for four rounds, unbeaten Tacoma product Jonte Willis (7-0, 3 KOs) puts his perfect record on the line against San Diego vet Antonio Mendivil (14-2-4, 8 KOs), and in the LOCKED ’N LOADED II opener, Riverside bantamweight Jonathan Arrellano (4-0-1, 1 KO) looks to add another victory when he takes on Fontana’s Samuel Yniguez (2-4-3). A fifth fight will be later announced.
Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the first bell rings at 7:45pm. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario. The hotel phone number is 909-937-0900.
